Brothers..

Different Size..

When friends or especially relatives whom saw Damien for the first time would always comment on his head. He seem to have bigger head circumference.. unfortunately he also had flat or rather prata head at the back.

Due to his preference to sleep straight and we did not make an effort to rotate or shift his head to the side when he nap.

So I invested in an expensive donut pillow hopping to rectify .. but it seem futile as the hole (of the pillow) seem a tad small for his head

Being a Mum..

Me and my 2 lovely blessed gifts of love:

When I had Dillion, God was good to me by blessing me with a 'Miracle of Love'.. A miracle we been waiting for so long. God was good because D1 was a relatively easy to take care. As long as he is being well fed and fed enough, he is a happy baby.

Damien came along and he was once again a 'Blessed Miracle' .. a beautiful gift to us after a failed pregnancy 2 months prior to conceiving him.
Now I know God is fair. Taking care of D2 was not easy preasy for 2nd time Parents. Sleep is his primary concern.. milk became his least favourite. Damien is more vocal and cries more. He is a screamer especially if he needs his nap. He just need to cry out his frustrations and struggle with his hands and legs regardless how you soothe, cradle, feed him.

Milk feeding became a torture to us as he can never focus on finishing his bottle .. prefering to look around, make noise, shoving bottle away. I certainly hope he will not be a fussy eater when he starts solid.

A total contrast between my boys! Motherhood is so tiring, lotsa sacrifices but rewarding.

Seeing them healthy, happy and well fed and clothed is all I wished for..

Same Pattern..

Damien:

Dillion:

5 Months..

Damien is much more responsive.. he laughs, smiles and coo to us. All thanks to the chocolates I ate during pregnancy. He is overall a smiley baby with a fiery temper.

He still can't flip which I'm not so anxious about. 1 more month to go and we will start solids!

He is now on almost 100% formula milk hence can see more flesh on him..

Stay healthy, chirpy and happy always.. our dear Damien!

5th month assesment..

Jabs: 2nd dose of 6-in-1
2nd dose rotavirus
Weight: 7.15 kg (75-90 percentile)
Height: 63 cm (50 percentile)

-----------------------------
Seem like his weight and height is not that balanced. Putting on quite a good weight now considering he was so light at birth and now almost on par with his peers.

PD advised to cut down his milk to 150ml (from his usual 180ml) as she say I been over feeding him!! Well, might as well since he always can't finish a bottle of 180ml milk.

My brave boy did not let out a whimper when jabbed because Daddy was there to distract him. But he was not co operative when admistering the rota orally.. Arrgh.. i think is a waste of our Money! He really hates medicine.

Disrupted Sleep..

When Damien turned 3months.. he slept through the night. I was so relieved that I need not wake up to do night feeding and get so zombified the next day due to interrupted sleep.

But my happiness was shortlived as after 1 week, he started waking up crying.. As he was on partial latch/bottle feed.. I could still comfort latch and soothe him to sleep.

I'm going to stop my breast-feeding journey soon.. when it comes, i can no longer comfort latch as I want to break this habit.
We are still not giving pacifier as it just take a bit of effort to rock Damien to sleep.

Fever Strike..

29 Sep, Wed
Damien's body felt quite warm to the touch in the late afternoon and checked that he had a temp of 39 degree so we fed him panadol and put cooling pad on his forehead.

He was still in his normal self and milk appetite not affected.

His fever spiked in wee hours- 3-4am when we checked on him. Highest reading was 39.7degree. It scared the wits out of us as Dillion never had that high temperature.
We deliberated for long time whether to send him to hospital. We kept sponging him till we managed to bring it down to 38 degree.

30 Sep, Thurs
We brought him to the PD as his temp was still around 39degree. Dr Oh exclaimed that its not a good thing if his temp ever crossed 39degree for his age. So a urine test was done in the clinic.
Thank god it was Viral Fever and not UTI.

Damien was so cranky and did not have much appetite for every milk feed. We can sense his discomfort as he cried most of the time so 3 of us- Me,Kevin and MIL had to carry him through out the day.

Feeding medicine was a chore! So unlike Dillion. Spoon / syringe feed became a messy event as he often spit them out. And we could not add to his milk feed as he always can't finish the milk.

Fever spike again in middle of night to almost 40 degree. We sponged and changed his fever pad every hour.

1 Oct, Fri
Fever came down to 38 deg in the morning. Some kind relative told us to mould the flour into a dough to place on his forehead.. seem like the dough is able to absorb the heat.
I usually don't believe sucha crap but that when one is desperate, you have no choice but to try

The PD suggested to get a water cushion to cool his body so I frantically search for one yesterday and managed to find it at a shop in TPY. But could only find water pillow (pillow filled with water instead of feathr).

Fever finally broke in the afternoon as correctly predicted by my PD. We still fed him medicine till he was finally delcared fever-free in wee hours of Saturday!

Some thoughts..
~ stock up on cooling fever pad. We used up almost 5 boxes as we changed every few hours. They were quite useful for infants and babies since they won't take it out on their own

~ Fed paracetamol regularly even in the middle of night. 4 hourly for high grade fever like 39 deg or 6 hr for lower grade. Babies below 6 months can't take Brufen.

~ Water cushion/pillow which only cost $2+ was very effective! It helps to keep their body cool.

~ Not to force feed them with milk if they can't drink as may cause them to vomit more.

Passport..

I submitted passport application for Damien when he was 1 month old but forgot to take photos till now.

We are still unsure of going ahead on our annual holiday plans as Damien will not be 6months old till Dec and thought letting him complete the 1st 6months jab before bringing him out of the country.
Otherwise, the holiday plan may have to be shelved.

We bought Dillion over for a swim at his God Pa's place.. see how colour co ordinated we were!
